Salam from Melbourne

Hye Malaysia,

How are you? Hope everything is fine.

I'm writing this in the city of Melbourne.

The temperature here is 13 degree celcius; cool.

It's a nice place here. Really safe, peaceful and the Australian people are really friendly.

I just pasted my poster at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center (MCEC).

It's a very big building and the design is artistic.

InsyaAllah, I will be presenting my research project poster tomorrow afternoon (Friday) at around 12.30pm-1.30pm. Wish me the best, right? =)

Erm, well, the prices here are quite expensive. Mineral water costs 3.50 Aussie Dollars which equivalents to around RM10..

Furthermore, semua toilets tiada paip air.. Just tissues.. Hehe.. Everywhere here is like that..

And.. My blackberry and phone seemed to be not working here.. I can not make a phone call and surf internet. Luckily I found a shop that provide Internet service. I just can use this for 30 minutes and I will go out to find something to eat.. So hungry now.. hehe.. By the way, the time now in Melbourne is 10.45am.

Here I'm staying in Malaysia Hall Melbourne in High St. Windsor.

I will be sharing more interesting experience and pictures with you guys in the next posts.

My research published in Australia!

Yup, untuk perkembangan terbaru, Alhamdulillah my research project telah terpilih untuk dibentangkan di National Medicine Symposium (NMS) 2010, Melbourne, Australia. Lebih tepat lagi, di Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Center.

Macam mana boleh terpilih? Erm, masa bulan Februari lepas aku dan supervisor dah bertungkus-lumus siapkan few data collection dan data analysis.

Kebetulan supervisor terjumpa satu website invitation untuk ke symposium tersebut, so she suggested, why not we try to get around 100 respondents, siapkan abstract dan apply.

So aku pun follow je la. Sebab NMS 2010 ni bertaraf international, mula-mula kami tak berharap sangat lah dapat, sebab mesti persaingan akan sangat-sangat tinggi.

Result keluar 31 Mac 2010 dan diberitahu melalui email. Supervisor called me and informed that abstract kami tu telah terpilih untuk poster presentation. Alhamdulillah, rezeki research. =)

Untuk poster presentation, I need to prepare a poster according to the information stated in the abstract. The poster tu akan ditampal di dinding kat dalam dewan persembahan. So I need to be side of my poster. Delegates dan visitors akan pass by dan tanya soalan berkaitan my research project especially about the objectives, methodology dan results.

So lepas dapat tahu terpilih tu, mulalah preparation untuk ke sana. Kena siapkan poster yang related to the abstract. Really thanks to supervisor (Madam Zie) yang really supportive in guiding me how to use the SPSS software. Without her I would stuck! =)

Erm, ada juga mintak sponsor daripada kolej, tapi tak dapat. Sob2.. grr.. hehe.. Erm, tapi pergi juga lah, cause that's a big opportunity for my future too.

Preparation yang paling mengkecut-perutkan ialah buat poster tu. Design dah ok, cuma part printing tu yang amat memeningkan kepala. Habis pusing satu JB cari kedai printing yang ok.

Hampir semua kata tak boleh buat secepat yang dimahukan or harga sangat mahal. Tapi nasib baik bro Izuan Inke Printing Skudai Parade tolong rekemen kat member dia dan bagi harga super diskaun for me.

Really appreciate that. Sekarang I have a good poster untuk dibentangkan di sana.

Bila bertolak? Erm, malam ni aku dan abah akan bertolak ke KL dan flight dari LCCT ke Melbourne pukul 1.30 ptg hari selasa. Ni kira curi-curi masa nak update blog lah ni. Hehe.

Ohya, petang tadi aku ke Celcom Center. Nak tanya lah pasal international roaming untuk my handsets. So tadi dah activate International Roaming, meaning I can use the handsets untuk buat panggilan.

I will bring both my 017 and UpaX no. Tapi jangan sms atau call tau. Rate dia sangat mahal... Just in case emergency.. Untuk Blackberry Internet Service plak.. Boleh pakai kat sana, tapi dia kira pay per use dan ikut rate Australia. Mesti super mahal tahap menggila.

So aku plan nak guna Wifi je kat sana (tengah berdoa harap-harap ada banyak wifi kat sana, haha..). Kalau ada wifi boleh lah aku update perkembangan aku kat sana guna facebook or twitter. Hmm, interesting, tapi bajet problem.. Hahah..

Ni bilik dan ruang tamu rumah tengah bersepah-sepah ngan barang-barang aku. Serabut gak lah..

Pukul 11 akan bertolak ke stesen bas larkin. Hmm, oklah, sampai sini dulu, nanti aku akan share kan lagi pengalaman kat sana dan InsyaAllah upload gambar banyak-banyak.

Habis Exam, KaMU dan Industrial Training..

Oh, sudah lame benar tak update blog. Mungkin dah berhabuk, bersawang dah Nizam Malek Blog ni. Korang semue pun mesti tertanye-tanye, nape Nizam tak update blog. Hmm.. Ok, sorry lah, cuma beberapa minggu sebelum ni amat-amat sibuk dengan final exam.

Macam mane exam? Ermm, boleh lah. Tapi susah sikit. Hehe.. Pape pun dah cuba yang termampu dan terbaik. Hope resultnya nanti ok.

Then lepas habis je exam, terus terlibat dengan Karnival Mesra Ubat (KaMU) di Jasin, Melaka. Alhamdulillah semuanya berjalan lancar dan hampir semua aktiviti yang dirancang dapat telah dapat disempurnakan.

Karnival Mesra ubat (KaMU) ni merupakan aktiviti 'public health' yang dianjurkan oleh pelajar farmasi dari CUCMS melalui persatuan Cyberjaya University Society of Pharmacy Students (CUSPS) dengan kolaborasi Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM). Dengan bertemakan 'Mulakan langkah pertama, kenali ubat anda', KaMU telah mendekati perkampungan orang asli dan berusaha berkongsi ilmu pengetahuan berkaitan kesihatan.

Menariknya, KaMU merupakan aktiviti pertama yang melibatkan penyertaan wakil student paramedic CUCMS; mereka diberikan slot khas untuk pengenalan dan demonstrasi bantuan kecemasan seperti teknik balutan luka dan lain-lain. Terima kasih kepada student paramedic tersebut iaitu Fayzal dan Hasrun, hope korang telah bergumbira dan mendapat manfaat daripada KaMU.

KaMU juga telah mendapat liputan di stesen TV1 RTM dan akhbar Utusan http://www.utusan.com.my/utusan/info.asp?y=2010&dt=0518&pub=Utusan_Malaysia&sec=Selatan&pg=ws_04.htm. Kalau nak tengok gambar-gambar KaMU, boleh lah try search kat facebook k. Berlambak-lambak di sana. =D

InsyaAllah Karnival Mesra Ubat akan menjadi acara tahunan untuk CUSPS dan kami akan cuba jadualkan selepas final exam.

So sekarang kira dah time holidays lah. Kami ada cuti 3 bulan, sampai awal ogos. Tapi for us yang nak masuk final year tak kira cuti sangat lah, sebab kena buat research project dan juga undergo industrial training selama sebulan.

Untuk research project, kami perlu siapkan at least 3 chapter lah kalau nak selamat semester depan. So kena rajin sikit bila masuk bulan 6 nanti, tak boleh enjoy-enjoy cuti je. Huhu.

InsyaAllah aku akan buat industrial training kat Royce Pharma (M) Sdn Bhd di Nilai. Royce Pharma is one of the best pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Malaysia selain Pharmaniaga, so hope that I can learn as much as there. Ohya, the industrial training will be held from 1 July-30 July 2010. So akan ulang alik dari Putrajaya. Bakal merasa emosi sang pekerja, hehe.

Oh, sebelum terlupa, ada juga kawan-kawan yang akan berkahwin dalam bulan 6 ni. Antaranya Imah, kawan masa kat Kolej Yayasan Melaka (KYM) dulu. Thanks for inviting. InsyaAllah i will try to attend. Anyway, congratulation Imah, dan bakal suami! =)

Hmm, lebih kurang macam tulah schedule aku dalam bulan cuti ni. Still sibuk tak terhinggakan.. Benar, tiada masa untuk bercinta... ohh.. Huhu..

If you go to hell you'll be so busy shaking hands with old friends, you won't have time to worry.

Log book secret exposed

Today I want to share with you guys about what my mentor said about me in the reflection book. Sebab itu ia dinamakan log book secret exposed! hehe.. Ni semua apa yang my mentor tulis as comment sepanjang 3rd year. So, here we go:

3rd year 1st semester:

1st reflection:

I wrote: I am regretful for not being more discipline

Mentor replied: work on this

Mentor last words: Some people have the talent in them to make business. But you need the skills to be able to have a GOOD business. So, what you have going on for yourself is REALLY REALLY good. I'm so proud. I'm also glad that for now you are able to and you pandai manage your time btw business and study. Semoga Allah murahkan rezeki you, InsyaAllah.

2nd reflection:

I wrote in the Academic SWOT: lazy to ask during class eventhough I really didn't understand.

Mentor replied: Please work on this, Rugi tau.

I wrote in the Non-academic SWOT: Managed to be neutral when people quarrel.

Mentor replied: Keep it up.

I wrote in the Niat: I wish that my mentor, will be strong to handle all the stresses and difficulties that she had and was facing.

Mentor replied: Auww... Thank you.

Mentor last words: I regretted this. I mean, I should not have included any of you with my problems. Should have been more professional. Sorry.

My reply to mentor (dalam hati): You have tried your best to be professional enough in front of us. You have thought me how to handle stress and emotions calmly when it comes to hard situation. Anyway, thanks for sharing your problems with us. Hope that it helps you. =)

4th reflection:

I wrote in the Academic account: Pharmaceutical analysis 2 paper was easy, but I think I did not do well for SAQ & Essay.

Mentor replied: Hey Hey!! It wasn't easy. You studied!!

I wrote in the Niat: Thanks to all my lecturers, you all are the best.

Mentor replied: WISH YOU ALL THE BEST. REMEMBER ME ALWAYS!!

3rd year 2nd semester:

Mentor wrote in the academic account: I'm glad that you had fun (regarding the research project kot)

I wrote in the Niat: Work is work, but I'm a human, not machine. I will try to allocate time for my love ones.

Mentor replied: Wow!! this is new. : )

Mentor last words: Keep up the good faith and optimism. Manage your time well. In future, don't wait till there is an event for you to have fun. You must always allocate time to have fun, de-stress and relax.

3rd reflection:

Mentor last words: Salam, Nizam now you're starting to see and experience the 'real' life. Sometimes people do things that we find it doesn't make sense. Now, this is only a little exposure. But when you get into the working field, unfortunately it gets worse. So many different type of people characters and attitudes that you have to deal with. But that is how the world goes around. So I hope you live through your life by adapting. Don't blame others and yourself if something goes wrong. But be strong and try to make the best out of everything. Challenges will only make you stronger.. InsyaAllah!

Itulah dia sikit sebanyak pesanan my previous mentor, Ms Ismin Izwani Zainol Abidin. It's true, I learnt a lot from the reflection sessions, eventhough sometimes the reflection session seemed to be a 'chatting' session, but indirectly, I can grab something. Something important for my survival.

As this semester is ending soon, I will get a new mentor, and maybe new reflection mates.

To Ms Ismin, thanks for being such a good lecturer and mentor for us. We will always remember you.

All the best for your study (PhD) and insyaAllah we will meet again. At that time, for sure I need to call you Dr Ismin. =) Do pray for my success!

Final examination for two weeks

Salam and hye all,

I will be having my End Semester Examination from this 3 May 2010 to 14 May 2010.

Below is the schedule for the exam:

• 3/5/2010 : Pharmacology of CNS
• 5/3/2010 : Veterinary Pharmacy
• 7/5/2010 : Toxicology
• 10/5/2010: Pharmacognosy
• 12/5/2010: Pharmaceutical Care
• 14/5/2010: Pharmacy Law in Malaysia

After finishing this exam, I will proceed to the final year Bachelor of Pharmacy and InsyaAllah will graduate in 2 more semesters.

I would appreciate your Doa and best wishes so that all my colleagues, seniors, juniors and I can do the best for this examination and for sure, get the desired results. =)
